Department of Sanskrit - Samhita - Siddhanta

Ayurveda literature is primarily written in the Sanskrit language. The Department of Sanskrit – Samhita – Siddhanta is dedicated to the study of classical Ayurvedic texts along with the fundamental principles of Ayurveda. Sanskrit is taught as an independent subject, with emphasis on grammar, comprehension, and conversational skills. The curriculum also includes the History of Ayurveda (Ayurveda Itihasa), enabling students to understand the evolution and philosophical background of the science. The study of Samhita is integrated with Darshana Shastra, focusing on a deep understanding of classical texts. Special importance is given to Padartha Vigyan, one of the most fundamental subjects, along with its conceptual correlation to modern scientific principles such as quantum mechanics. The vision of the department is to enable students to understand classical Ayurvedic literature accurately and systematically. Various departmental activities are planned to make the learning process engaging and effective. Shloka recitation is regularly facilitated by faculty members during lectures. Hands-on learning is encouraged through practical activities such as the preparation of models, charts, and other educational aids.
